ARTEL is a group of professional artists who collaborate to exhibit their work whilst establishing a dynamic community. Working in the South Downs area, each artist has developed a unique and informed practice. The artwork from this covers a rich and diverse range of subjects and media shared through an annual show in Chichester at the Oxmarket Contemporary gallery.

Title A

I am interested in the scientific notion of connection between all things which also underlies many spiritual intuitions.

In contrast to the mindset of ‘predictive’ physics, we now face the unpredictable interconnections of quantum physics - not easy - and the potential power of communication (which lies beneath physical appearance and sensation).

The historic split between spirituality and classical science will, I hope, be superseded by a gradual fusion between scientific discovery and spirituality. Their common ‘magic’ could enable us to harmonise our everyday worlds - both outer and inner.

Watercolour - my teacher
I humbly watch how watercolour and I, occasionally ‘entangled’, might behave in any condition or mood. Whether I’m painting a person, plant, idea or landscape, the thrill is ego-free connection in the moment - subject, medium, artist - and reinterpretation.
Not easy - but I’ve been hooked by this AI - PROOF ‘watercolour jeopardy’, since I was eight!
