ARTEL is a group of professional artists who collaborate to exhibit their work whilst establishing a dynamic community. Working in the South Downs area, each artist has developed a unique and informed practice. The artwork from this covers a rich and diverse range of subjects and media shared through an annual show in Chichester at the Oxmarket Contemporary gallery.

Title A

River and Pool

These works show a variety of images of pools and the wooded banks of the River Rother at Iping near Midhurst, West Sussex.  Deborah grew up here and often revisits to walk and sketch, resulting in these unique oil on paper works and acrylic silkscreen prints with graphite monotypes, all made by layering and drawing over the ghost images.

Deborah enjoyed a 35 year career in London and Portsmouth working in public sector museums and continues to design and curate occasional exhibitions in galleries and museums such as the recent Every Step of the Way exhibition held at the Novium Museum, Weald and Downland Museum and ARC Winchester.  Since 2016 Deborah has been a full-time artist. She has won prizes and recognition in open art competitions including the IOW Open, Strides Open, the Sussex Open at Pallant House, the South Downs Open 2025 & 2026, Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery.  Her work is held in many private collections. She has been an Artel member for 9 years. She enjoys working in both 2D and 3D media.
