‘Forest 3’
Mixed media
63cm x 45cm

Linda has long been intrigued and excited by the unpredictable outcomes of ink meeting water on paper. For Artel’s 2026 exhibition she has allowed herself to indulge this fascination, and has created a new body of work in which each piece begins with Indian ink dropping onto wet heavy-duty watercolour paper.

Intermittently, Linda perceives tree-like forms within the happenstance of this process, so setting these particular examples aside, she has used them to build images in layers of collage, drawing and stitch, creating a collection entitled Forest. This to draw attention to the plight of forests throughout the natural world.

The work is slow, meditational and absorbing, and the artist finds great joy in this intuitive, unstructured method of production. She hopes that the viewer enjoys the visual exploration of the quirky outcomes, and finds the fun.
