Solent: The space between…
Here is the Solent, either just by itself, shown as sequences or with the Isle of Wight in the distance. Deborah enjoys the changing views across the Solent in all weathers, any time of day or night, both from land or sea.
Moving in and around the mainland on her travels through local downland and coastal landscapes, the Island can unexpectedly appear, magically there, looking south across woodland plains and from high up on the Downs. Here you can even see the large container ships and ferries. Once your eye is in you can observe the ‘Silvery Solent’ and the Island from many viewpoints– it’s the space between!
The works on show use a variety of media observed/drawn from life - one-off unique oil on paper monotypes made by layering the ghost image with additional graphite drawing, also silkscreen monotypes made by painting through a screen.
